When it comes to the mid-century modern style of home decor, Amazon seriously has a ton of options! This is the first post in a series of 4 that include a glam office, a coastal living room, and a Restoration Hardware style bedroom. The best thing about these posts is that they will include only products from, you guessed it, Amazon!
What I love about Amazon is that I can order things and not have to worry about even leaving my house. It isn’t the first place I ever thought to look for home decor, I must admit. However, as I sit home in order to practice social distancing, I find myself brainstorming up a lot of new home renovations. That being said, online shopping and browsing have become one of my favorite pastimes!
What exactly is “Mid-Century Modern” style?
Architectural Digest defines this style as having these things:
- Organic influences
- Simple forms
- Emphasis on function
- Democratic (in other words, designed for everybody)
- Time Period: Roughly 1933-1965
I really love, however, how housebeautiful.com put it when they said:
“At its most basic level, mid-century modern designs are known for juxtaposing sleek lines (think: skinny, peg legs on dressers and tables) with organic shapes, using new materials and methods to reimagine traditional pieces.”
This has been a style that I have always loved, but I don’t know that I could do my entire home in this style because it’s very specific. I do, however, have some rough ideas of things I want to do to transform my basement area into a mid-century modern oasis! In this small dose, it will be doable to incorporate some mid-century modern style in my home. 😊
